Frank Gehry’s first work was furniture before working on designs for buildings. The Merriweather Post Pavilion was one of the first buildings Frank Gehry designed. Frank Gehry’s art style for his buildings are unique, the name of the Architectural style is called “DeCon” or Deconstructivist. “DeCon” is often referred to as Post-Structuralist. Steve Sample, President of the University of Southern California, said to Gehry that, “…After George Lucas, you are our most prominent graduate.”

Major Works

In 1997, Frank Gehry’s design for the Guggenheim Museum became a reality when it was completed and opened to the public. The Guggenheim Museum is known as one of Frank Gehry’s best work. Years later he designed the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and it was opened in October 23, 2003. It was completed in 1996, but was opened 7 years later. In the same year Walt Disney Concert Hall was complete, so was his other building Prague, Czech Republic. The Dancing House, was built over a vacant lot where a building once stood but was destroyed in the bombing of Prague in 1945. In 2005 a man named Sydney Pollack made a documentary about Frank Gehry called “The Sketches of Frank Gehry”. The Latest building designed by Frank Gehry is the InterActiveCorp Building in Manhattan. Frank Gehry had received the Pritzker Prize and the first Gish award.
